Toronto -- Results are in for the first year of a three-year program in which corporations matched $200,000 in community arts funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Ontario Ministry of Culture. The ArtsVest challenge fund, developed by the advocacy group Council for Business and the Arts in Canada, helped to find companies to match public funding for 44 arts organizations in four Ontario communities: Waterloo Region, Peterborough, Sudbury and Prince Edward County.

In the end, the corporate contributions were $270,000, bringing the total funding to $470,000, with 126 business sponsors participating. The three-year program expects to collect $1.5-million in new arts funding for 10 Ontario communities.
