Canada’s foremost business and arts leaders came together at the Business for the Arts’ Annual Awards gala, dinner and Arnold Party at the Carlu October 20th.

October 20th we celebrated our 2008 Bovey winner, the Hon. Henry N.R. Jackman for his decades-long contribution to the arts in Canada. The award accompanied a cheque for $20K which Mr. Jackman decided to match, giving $20K to both Tafelmusik and the Canadian Opera Company.

"Hal personifies everything that this award honours: passion and vision for the arts in Canada, a lifelong commitment of his time, and incredible generosity with his expertise and his money." – Joey Tanenbaum.

Our first Arnold Edinborough award winner, Claudia Moore, was recognized for her outstanding commitment to the arts as a young business volunteer. She was given a sulpture by an emerging Canadian artist along with a prize of $5K which she awarded to Decidedly Jazz Dnaceworks.

Also four  Canadian companies received a The Globe and Mail Business for the Arts award for their innovative partnerships with the arts. The winners received an award designed by Canadian sculptor and performing artist, Nobuo Kubota.
