artsVest is a three year pilot matching incentive program created by Business for the
Arts in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Culture, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and Canadian Heritage.
Its goal is to help develop new, mutually beneficial partnerships between business and arts
organizations that will in turn benefit Ontario communities.
artsVest Results:In the past three years, $535K matching funds stimulated $925K
in business dollars, generating $1,46M in total for arts and culture in eleven Ontario communities -
representing a 142% increase over the matching funds. Overall in Ontario, 132 arts and cultural
organizations partnered with 369 businesses, with 222 of those businesses being first time partners of the Arts.
artsVest has concluded its final year of the three-year pilot program. Click below for more

artsVest Year Three: 2007 – 08 Communities
Year Three (2007-2008) brought artsVest to four communities: Kingston, Sault Ste. Marie, Orillia and the Niagara Region
- A total of $547,000 was generated for the arts from an initial investment of $185,000 (provided by the Trillium Foundation and the Ministry of Culture with an additional $25K for the Niagara Region contributed by the Niagara Community Foundation).
- $361,934 in new business sponsorship dollars was leveraged for the arts – almost double the challenge fund.
- The artsVest challenge fund consistently generated greater return on investment from business partners.
- In every community the arts organizations and their business partners surpassed the artsVest fund by a significant margin.
